Slumdog Millionaire
Here is my quick rundown of the Best Picture nominees and my choice for the winner (guess which, hint look at the picture).
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Saw it. Very much gave me a feel of a ‘Forest Gump’ quality as I watched, in a historical/epic sort of way. This is disappointing to some, but I found the movie very touching and human.
Frost/Nixon: Didn’t see yet. Hoping it is as good as it seems, but not sure of how the story arc will hold-up to the competion.
Milk: Saw it. A huge fan of Sean Penn, and the whole cast which does an outstanding acting ensemble. More interesting than enjoyable as an overall movie. While emotional, the movie left me feeling a bit distant from the characters.
The Reader: Didn’t see yet. The movie I probably have heard the least about, but still seems interesting.
Slumdog Millionaire: Saw it. An amazing movie from story, to acting to an overall classic movie arc that keeps thing interesting. The story device of using the ‘game show’ to tell the young man’s very difficult life story works beautifully. The young actors playing early characters are under appreciated. Yes, this is my pick from what I have seen.
